Roger and his team sent out KYLLACHY’S TALE at Southwell on the 21st Febuary and in much style she romped home to get the teams first win of 2017 by 7 lengths. She is a tall athletic filly who has taken a bit of time to come to herself but each with each time gaining a bit more valuable experience she was able to come out on top of the 13 strong 1 mile handicap for new connections Mr B & Mrs S Kitcherside. Kally will now have a short break as she still has a bit of growing and filling out to do and hopefully be resuming winning ways soon.

The 22nd of Febuary saw LUCKY LOUIE head to Lingfield to gain team teals second winner of 2017 for the new partnership Great Shefford Racing who is also run by Rogers wife Sue Teal. Louie has been a frustrating horse to win with as he hasn’t made his races easy for himself, he can be quite slow to stride out of the stalls and in doing so sees him playing catch up, but one thing with Louie is he has a great finishing speed. He showed this on Wednesday when looking like he’d be no better off than 5th at the furlong pole the penny suddenly dropped and sprinted home to make up 6 lengths and win by a head.

Today saw 2 of the yards horses come back into work after a winter break,

The first to come back in to work was LANGLEY VALE, he among the winners of 2016 completing a double for team Teal and owners Mrs M FORWARD & Dr G C FORWARD.

The second was BERKELEY VALE also owned by Mrs M FORWARD & Dr G C FORWARD and he also amongst the winners of 2016 completing another double for owners and team Teal.

BERKELEY VALE unfortunately we didn’t manage to get a video but here’s a picture looking very happy after his lunge.

Roger and the team have had a quite start to 2017 with very few runners, but could LAYLA’S HERO be the one to bring home the bacon and get roger his first winner for 2017.

LAYLA’S HERO heads to Kempton for the 5:50 this evening, he won at Kempton last September over 6f and is back up to 7f today , he has been in great form at home and he is more than capable of winning off his mark of 65 if putting his best foot forward.

Future entries consist of SWOT in the 8:15 this Saturday also at Kempton. And KYLLACHYS TALE in the 2:10 at Southwell next Tuesday.

Roger is looking for full time members of staff to take on day to day yard duties e.g. mucking out, riding out, going racing etc. this easy going, small, fun team is a great place to work.

Roger had his most successful season to date last season after moving to Great Shefford in December of 2015 and is looking for full time members of staff due to a growing increase of horses.

Roger has accommodation in Lambourn about 4 miles away from his yard so transportation is important.
