2 from 2

Berkeley Vale made it 2 from 2 this season when scoring at Nottingham yesterday gaining his first success on Turf, he really dug deep and battled to the line maybe our Jack the lad is finally growing up, Elvis as he is known has always been a goof ball and he thinks life is a game but we can put up with that if he keeps on showing grit on the track. Today he has had a few hours in the paddock with Basil the baby sitter.

Miss Lillie ran far to free with Jamie Spencer and paid the price weakening back through the field she then got a nasty bump which put paid to any chances she may have had, she is fine this morning so we will look for something else for her.

Today Jack of Diamonds runs at Wolverhampton a track he seems to like, he has had a short break and is jumping and kicking at home Rob Winston is back on board so we are hoping for a big run.

Pucon runs at Lingfield tomorrow she is up in trip to 6f a trip she has won at in the past, Liam just needs to keep a lid on that early speed and save a bit for the finish.

The Tichborne is at Lingfield on Friday and Jack Mitchell is on board hopefully with only 7 runners he won’t get stuck in behind like he did on his last run he much prefers a bit of daylight.

All the horses seem happy and well so we just need that luck in running

Our only runner of the week was Lucky Louie at Bath yesterday, this was Louie’s first run on grass and unfortunately the weather wasnt kind to us and the heavens opened, Rob Winston was on board and Louie ran a cracker to get up for 2nd on the line he reported he was very game and honest and battled on on ground that wasn’t ideal, he will deafinately improve on better ground.

Tuesday we have Howaboutnever entered at Kempton and Rosie Royale at Brighton they are possibly our only runners of the week.

We have a couple of new recruits which have joined us Swot is a 4 yr old owned by the Big Cat partnership he has settled in well and seems to be enjoying his new surroundings.

Roger also purchased an Elusive Quality colt from the Ascot breeze ups, he is a lovely colt and has settled in well he is very professional in his work and an exciting prospect he will run under the ownership of Excel Racing and we welcome all new members.

A mixed bag

Last weeks runners were a mixed bag Monday saw us heading to Wincanton with Howaboutnever the weather was awful and it poured solidly for more than 3 hours as the runners lined up the heavens opened again hail stones falling heavily, Tommy didn’t want to know he was never travelling from the tapes going up Harry was slapping after the first we can only put it down to him curling up in the rain he hates it, he came home fine and has been out in the field bucking and kicking we will put a line through that run.

Miss Lillie ran on the wednesday and had 5 rivals with no pace she took the lead and travelled well just tying up in the last half furlong Tom reported she had just got a bit tired after her mini break but she remains in fine form.

johnny Splash stepped up to 7 furlongs he didn’t really travel for the first furlong but Jack kept him upto his work and he flew down the home straight finishing 4th beaten a length it was a bit gutting but great to see the old boy is in good form.

we have a quiet week with only Lucky Louie holding an entry at Bath on Friday but this will be ground dependent whether he runs or not.

All run well

Very pleased with all last weeks runners Stonemadforspeed redeemed himself by finishing 3rd at Southwell although beaten a long way he travelled and jumped really well he got very tired and Harry was sensible and looked after him to bring him home safe he will come on for the run having been off the track for a year.

Pucon was next up and ran like her old self being able to dictate from the front she finished a game 2nd to picnsort who was rated very highly in his day and I’m sure she will be winning before long.

Friday was a busy day as we had 3 runners at Lingfield The Tichborne and Berkeley Vale ran in the same race Tich had a good draw but unfortunately didn’t take advantage of it and got shuffled back he was still travelling strongly 3 out but had nowhere to go He is happier being up there but things just didn’t go to plan, on the other hand everything went perfectly for Berkeley Vale and Rob gave him a great ride to win after a 6 month break.

Langley Vale was our 3rd runner of the day and I was delighted with his run Tom gave him a very good ride he is a little sensitive and quite light mouthed but Tom rode him exactly how he needs riding, he reported that he got tired but will come on for the race.

We start off next week with Howaboutnever at Wincanton with Harry on board, he came out of his race at Newbury well and we are hoping for a big run.

Johnny Splash steps up to 7f on Wednesday at Lingfield trying it out as he may appreciate a slightly slower pace, Miss Lillie is also entered Wednesday but she is more likely to run on Saturday at Lingfield she’s had a little break and a freshen up and seems in good order
